It Takes a Village to Raise a Child..! The Power of Many

The assets provide a framework for action that encourages all individuals to make a difference, no matter who they are or what their lives are like. Imagine for a moment what young people experience when they have many, many people and places in their lives all committed to nurturing and strengthening them by building assets: families that communicate and enjoy spending time together, supportive teachers and school staff, elected officials who have worked diligently to protect rights and opportunities for all youth. Experience has taught us that our asset-building power grows exponentially in this kind of environment. As we work together on behalf of young people we ensure that they receive consistent messages and treatment, and we ourselves benefit because we connect with people who share our ideals, our vision and our commitments. Residents in hundreds of communities across the country are discovering that embracing the asset framework brings them together in new and exciting ways. It serves as a call to action and cooperation, a catalyst for uniting people who never before had reason to work together.

How You Can Become Involved!

Henrietta Youth Asset Team

The Youth Asset Team is a group of young people (grades 6 to 12) who are part of creating, facilitating and promoting change in our community. Youth will learn leadership skills, become part of an effective team and learn to share common concerns while finding solutions to them. Together we will make things happen while building assets in our youth. Meetings are held every other Monday at the Henrietta Senior Center, 515 Calkins Road at 6:00 p.m.

Our Leadership Group is undertaking our first ever fundraising project for Teens Living With Cancer. This local, nationally recognized organization provides resources for teens that our hospitals don't usually provide. The Youth Asset Team wants to prove that, as teens, we have the power to raise money to help other teens like ourselves that have been diagnosed with cancer. Please visit the Henrietta Youth Asset Team website to sign up for the challenge and keep track of everything the team is doing this year. We CAN make a difference!
